a few words about us

Bengal Cat

Thank you for visiting our website and your interest in Migaloo Bengals.
In this section we would like to tell you a little about ourselves and how we started with the breed. We also hope that over the years we can recreate our former website from the 1990’s with history about the breed along with timelines and milestones reached over the years.

It was 1991 and I was talking with a veterinarian colleague of mine in the United States when she mentioned an article that had been published in one of her veterinary journals about the Bengal cat. After numerous discussions back and forth I finally made contact with Jean Mills. I must admit with all the publicity Jean had recently had in the states I didn’t expect to hear anything back, within 2 hours I had a reply and it wasn’t long before we had our first Bengal import in the UK.
We imported and exported cats all over the world from Asian Leopards to World Champion SBT’s.

It was wonderful seeing all the breeders from around the world unite together in creating such a visually stunning cat with the wild patterned and smooth pelt of an exotic animal.

I worked with some amazing breeders and lines in the early stages of the breed. It wasn’t easy for any of us, we had heartaches, shared both laughter and tears but it was always a pleasure working with you all. I would like to give a special mention to some of the breeders/lines I worked very close with and it is with great sadness that we have lost a number of these wonderful breeders on the way, however, your legacy will always remain strong and although there have been a few changes from when we started I am pleased to say that the majority of the younger breeders are making our dreams a reality.

Let’s skip forward a few years and after being in the veterinary/companionanimal/dog training/wildlife world for a number of years followed by a number of years working with humans and having a desk job I have had to give up due to health reasons and have decided I now have the time to commit to promoting the breed I helped establish in the beginning and we hope to be able to take the breed to the next stage in its development.
